Add Foundational Plot Events

Use the Foundational Plot Events section of the Plot Foundations page to note the main “what happens” turning points of the story.

Each of these major plot events can later be broken down into specific beats within a chosen plot structure template, and further broken down into individual scenes. Starting here is a great way to brainstorm a new plot or review an existing one.

Open Foundational Plot Events

1. Open your story.
2. Go to the Plotting area.
3. Select the Foundations tab at the top of the page.
4. Scroll to the Foundational Plot Events section.

Complete the event fields

This section includes four fields:

• The Beginning (The Hook & Inciting Incident)
• The Middle (Escalation / Rising Action / Midpoint)
• The Climax (The Ultimate, Final Effort)
• The End (Resolution & Denouement)

Use each field to describe what that part of the story needs to accomplish in your current plan.
