Write The Premise

Use The Premise section in Plot Foundations to define the story’s central conflict, core question, and thematic premise.

Open The Premise

1. Open your story.
2. Go to the Plotting area.
3. Select the Foundations tab.
4. Scroll to The Premise section.

Complete the fields

The Premise includes these fields:

• The Central Conflict & Question
• The Thematic Premise

Use the first field to describe what is in conflict and what question drives the story forward. Use the second field to record the thematic idea you want the story to explore.

Keep this section scoped to the premise

If you need to map character change or major turning points, return to Plot Foundations and continue in:

• The Arcs
• Foundational Plot Events
