What happens when you downgrade to Free
Understand what happens to stories, characters, worlds, and timelines if your Novelio account returns to the Free plan.
When your account downgrades to Free, free-plan limits apply to your stories and story data.
What stays available
You can still view your work on Free. Content that stays within the Free limits remains editable.
What changes on Free
Free currently includes:
- up to 3 stories
- 10 character profiles per story
- 1 world per story
- 1 plotting timeline per story
If your account is over those limits after the downgrade, over-limit items can become locked.
What locked means
Locked items remain in your account, but Free limits restrict what you can keep actively editable until you:
- upgrade again, or
- delete enough content to get back under the limit

Story Sync on Free
Free does not include Story Sync scan credits, but purchased Story Sync scan credits can still be used on Free. See How Story Sync Scan Credits Work.
